Three years since their phenomenal love team was born, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, collectively known as KathNiel, shared that their tandem has allowed them to grow together and individually as actors.
During their live appearance on “The Buzz” on Sunday, Kathryn explained that they were able to develop a far stronger love for the craft over the years.
“Before naman importante na sakin ang craft na ito, pero ngayon siguro mas na-appreciate ko siya. Mas na-realize ko kung gaano siya ka-importante and nag-grow po siguro kaming dalawa,” said the 17-year-old actress.
Aside from the love, Kathryn also cited that they learned to be more focused with their career.
At such a short time, their love team was able to prove its magic through their successful projects. among them was their first titular soap “Princess & I ” and their first ever movie released last July titled “Must Be Love” and now their new primetime soap “Got to Believe.”
To this, Daniel was asked as to the “magic” behind their highly-supported tandem.
“Kasi magkaiba po kami ni Kathryn sa ugali, sa pag-iisip kung ano ang kailangang gawin. Kasi ako yung parang magulo siya yung maayos. Pero sa ibang bagay siya ako naman ang maayos siya naman ang magulo. Sobrang magkaiba kami kaya sobrang naging compatible yung nakikita,” Daniel offered.
In retrospect, though prior to being hailed as one of the most bankable teen loveteams today, Kathryn and Daniel were actually skeptical as to whether or not their “experimental” love team would gain following.
The young actress explained that her doubt stems from the fact that “pareho kaming moreno, pareho kaming Filipino-looking so di ko pa masyadong sigurado kung magwo-work ba.”
While the then newbie Daniel was battling his own anxiety over being paired to someone who already has “acting experience.”
“Kinabahan siyempre kasi si Kathryn artista na eh ako medyo baguhan palang tapos si Kathryn agad ang ka-partner ko, kabado talaga ako. Tapos yung mga kasama ko artista na talaga, ako lang talaga yung pinakabago dun,” shared the 18-year-old teen star about their first project together, the defunct youth-oriented show “Growing Up.”
KathNiel will be back on primetime on August 26 for their second soap, Got to Believe.
